The AAPI Heritage Festival is an event dedicated to celebrating the diversity in Asian and Pacific culture, especially during a time of anti Asian hate. This is an opportunity for everyone to learn about what makes up the AAPI community.
We boldly and joyfully take pride in what makes not only our AAPI community as a whole unique, but also the differences within our community. This celebratory event recognizes the beautiful tapestry of the various cultures, languages, art, and traditions that make up our community, which when weaved together make us stronger.
As a part of our mission of uplifting Asian and Pacific American voices, CVC is organizing the 2024 AAPI Heritage Festival in San Francisco’s historic Chinatown with much appreciated support from several members of the community.

Chinatown was chosen as the location of this year’s AAPI Heritage Festival because it is a big cultural hub for many, if not most, Asian Communities in the Bay Area. Much of the Asian diaspora came through San Francisco, ultimately landing in the area known as Chinatown. The area surrounding modern-day Chinatown was populated with people from other Asian countries and it is important to note that Chinatown has always been a place that was built upon diverse Asian heritage.
Many of the locals and businesses are from various Asian countries, including, but not limited to, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and many more. Chinatown has never been a place for solely those of Chinese descent, but a welcoming place for all individuals with Asian heritage. By having Chinatown be the site of this celebratory event, we hope to help share each of our cultures and highlight the fact that so many other cultures and heritages call Chinatown home.
