Harassment

Declaration

Any type of harassment is a violation of this policy. Harassment can take many forms, and is not limited to words, signs, jokes, pranks, intimidation, physical contact, violence, or any actions causing unease and discomfort.

Definition

Sexual harassment may include unwelcome sexual advances such as requesting sexual favors, other verbal or physical contact in a sexual nature or in such a conduct that creates an intimidating environment, or prevents an individual from effectively performing the duties of their position, or socializing in group settings.

It is not the intent of the behavior by the offender that determines if harassment either implicitly or explicitly that determines if harassment has occurred, but whether the behavior is welcome by the receiver.

Harassment Policy

Individuals who experience any form of harassment or discomfort by any individual not limited to but including group leaders, volunteers, other guests, should feel comfortable to have their voices heard in an environment that is safe and comfortable to do so without being intimidated or coerced from voicing such claims.

A safe and comfortable setting should be determined by the receiver of harassment. Unless not explicitly expressed, leadership shall have the authority to decide a suitable safe and comfortable environment as long as the receiver of harassment agrees to it.

If the offender or alleged offender is part of leadership, the receiver of harassment has the choice to specify among leadership which leader to voice their case to.

If the receiver does not believe any members of leadership is capable or qualified, the receiver of harassment shall have the authority to implore a neutral mediator to the case, and to present it to leadership and the alleged offender.

If none of the aforementioned processes satisfies the receiver of harassment’s needs, the receiver of harassment shall specify what those needs are.

Consequences for Violating Our Policies

Individuals violating our policies are subject to disciplinary action on a case by case basis by members of group leadership who are also not alleged offenders or accused of being alleged offenders.

If a sound number of volunteers have determined that members of group leadership are not capable or qualified to make a determination of disciplinary action, these aforementioned volunteers shall have the authority to make such a determination for the particular case they believe group leadership is incapable of or not qualified to make judgment upon.

All volunteers, including those in leadership, can be subject to disciplinary action.

Disciplinary action can include but is not limited to verbal warnings, expulsion from the group, other verbal requests etc.
